The fine corner in Central Asia is Fergana valley. It is the intermountain hollow which has settled down in mountains Tien Shan. The big oasis is surrounded with mountain ridges: mountain Kuramin, a mountain ridge of mountain Chatkal, Alaj, the Fergana mountain ridge, and also the Turkestan mountain ridge.
In the valley all types of landscapes are presented. Its nature amazes by variety of paints. Here it is possible to see dark gray sand and emerald-green cotton fields, high-mountainous Alpine meadows and the tops decorated with snow.
The territorial area of Fergana valley makes 77, 9 thousand square kilometers. The Andijan, Fergana, Namangan areas and the next states of Central Asia: Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are located there. Only in 1920 the region was divided between these countries. In XVIII-XIX centuries this district was the center of Kokand khanate. And in 1876 was a part of the Russian empire.
Climate of Fergana Valley
In Fergana is observed valley soft enough climate. A temperature in July varies from +23ºСto +28ºС. In January the temperature varies from -0,9 ºСto-2,5 ºС. Snow in these edges usually nondurable. In the beginning of spring begins flowering of plum, a cherry, a cherry plum, apricots and peaches.
Because of that Fergana valley has various natural riches; it is named as a pearl of Uzbekistan. Today in this region it is possible to see a set of ancient monuments, fortresses, ruins of antique cities.
"Bekabadsky gate" – it is the only thing to do from Fergana valley. It is located in the territory of Hodzhekentsky area of Tajikistan, their width is 20 meters. In the southern part of the valley stretches Fergana viloyat (Fergana region) where settle down 9 cities of Uzbekistan. Viloyat was formed in there 1938. In the region there is a Karkidansk reservoir, and it is the center of cotton irrigation.
Territoty of Fergana Valley
In the region the largest river is Syr-Darya which is formed in territory of a valley by merge of Naryn and Karadari. In order to irrigate the earth’s in Fergana valley was formed the branched out network of channels which scoop waters of Syr-Darya, and also its inflows.
Many animals live in the valley. It is possible to meet Central Asian turtle, big-eared hedgehog, lizards, more rarely are seen foxes, wolves, wild boars and others. Over the valley fly larks, nightingales, pink starlings, orioles, eagles, hawks and other birds. In the rivers it is possible to see catfishes, marinka, carps and barbels. Also there are found scorpions, tarantulas, karakuts and phalanxes.
Population of Fergana Valley
In the Fergana valley live the largest part of the population of Uzbekistan; this region is a heart of Uzbekistan. The majority of inhabitants are engaged in agriculture. They are occupied by crops of cotton, rice, vineyards, melon fields and also grow grain crops. On deserted plains usually cattle all-the-year-round graze. Also in the Fergana valley silkworm breeding is developed. In silk production were engaged from immemorial times and now it made by old traditions.
